Welcome! I'm a new Pittsburgher and mom who is untrained in both life and cooking, but that just makes them both more exciting!

Bye Bye, House.

The last few weeks have been a hurricane of logistics and emotions and couch surfing.  As I have briefly mentioned in previous posts, Jake, Lily, Buster, and I decided to pack up and move from Boston to Pittsburgh.  Sounds like a great idea, right?  We will be closer to family, Pittsburgh is a pretty rockin' city to live in, and the cost of living makes it possible for us to simultaneously send Lily to daycare AND live above the poverty line. But that doesn't mean that it has been easy to leave our old life behind.  We could have easily sat back and spent the next twenty years living in the safe cocoon that we built for ourselves in Boston without thinking twice.  Some of our best friends, including Lily's very first bff, are in Boston.  Jake and I had steady jobs that we enjoyed and wonderful neighbors to share kitchen creations with.  I made a bit of a tear-filled scene at the end of Lily's last day of daycare.  How do you say goodbye to the people who have helped to raise your daughter since she was 3 months old?  As it turns out, not well.

And our house.  I love that house (well, half of a house).  It has been the perfect launch pad for our little family; it's where we first brought home our two babies (Buster included), is where Jake and I lived when we got married, and is where Lily has had so many of her "firsts."  This video just about made me unpack everything and move back in:

But, alas, onwards and upwards.  We found an awesome new house that will set the scene for many memories to come.  Lily adores her new daycare and can't get enough of her Grambo (who has already shown her all of the best ice cream spots in town).  I have a fun new job.  Jake and Buster are finally moved into our transitional apartment.  And even though we are currently in a state of complete upheaval, Pittsburgh is already starting to feel like home, proven by the fact that Lily has enough Steelers' gear to convince even the harshest skeptic that her first word was "yinz."
