So, I was reading this Cooking Light article about the 25 most common mistakes that people make in the kitchen. And unfortunately, I have done/still do pretty much all of them. Having an oven that is uneven without knowing it is one of the listed items. What's funny is that even though I know about ovens cooking unevenly, I never thought to actually test mine.
So, that's what I did! I put the bread on a baking sheet and found that in general we are pretty even except for the back left corner which left the toast a little bit darker and some random. Good to know! But what do I do to fix it? I have no idea. I guess just rotate the pans, which I have always done anyway.
Of course, Jake walked in the kitchen and wondered what the heck I was doing, so I told him that I was making bread crumbs. Which I probably would have done had I not forgotten about the whole experiment and left it sitting out on the stove all night. Blame it on the pregnancy hormones. At least the oven was turned off. *phew*
