Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies
I had a kitchen failure the other day very similar to my experience with the grill a couple of months ago. Jake was holding the baby and I offered to make him coffee. Have I mentioned that I hate coffee? And that I have never made it before? Can you tell where this story is going?
So, I start the coffeemaker and leave the room. About ten minutes later, Jake walks into the kitchen and finds coffee and wet grounds all over the counter and floor. As it turns out, what I thought was the filter was actually just some random container in the coffeemaker. I had accidentally thrown the (reusable) filter away and started the coffeemaker without one. It was a hot mess. Literally!
The point of this story is to tell you that I should just stick to what I do best. Which is contribute to the obesity epidemic in America. Sorry. I can't help it. But these brownies are totally worth it.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies (adapted from Betty Crocker):
For the brownies: 1 batch brownie batter for a 9" x 13" pan (can be made from a box or from scratch) 1 roll of premade chocolate chip cookie dough, or one batch of homemade dough
For the ganache: 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips 2/3 cup condensed milk 2 tbsp. butter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 13" x 9" pan with cooking spray and then pour in the brownie batter. Next, dot tablespoons of cookie dough throughout the batter. Push the cookies down slightly into the brownie batter. Cook until a toothpick comes out clean - it took about 25 minutes in my oven. Cool the cookie dough in the pan.
In a saucepan or a double boiler (if you are using a saucepan, use very low heat and stir constantly) melt the chocolate chips, condensed milk, and butter together. Pour the melted mixture over the brownies and let it sit until completely cool before slicing.
