I'm not one who would normally spend my winters having oatmeal for breakfast every day.  I like it, but it is cumbersome to make from scratch, and those premade packets rarely taste good.  So, I was incredibly pumped when I got a variety sample of Better Oats because it is quick and easy to prepare AND it tastes good.  Plus, the packets are healthier than most oatmeals because they have flax seeds in them, which also happens to add a great texture.  I'm sold.

Of course, there's more to oats than hot cereal.  And Jake loves a good smoothie, so seeing as his birthday is this week I wanted to make a recipe that he would enjoy.  He did!  And Lily liked it too, which is good because it is packed with tons of healthy goodness.  Hopefully, if I make enough of them, the dark cloud of colds and flus will find another house to cast a shadow upon!

PomBerry Oatmeal Smoothies

1 cup ice 1 cup Greek yogurt (any berry flavor) 1 ripe banana 1/4 cup pomegranate juice 1/4 cup orange juice 1 cup frozen blueberries 1 packet Better Oats pomegranate oatmeal (if you don't have it, mix about 1/4 cup oats, and 1 tsp. flax seeds) 2 Tbsp. honey

Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.  Serve immediately.
